Whenever the car is developed and put into the production, the company makes an estimate on how many units it will sell. The first number is an estimation, which is based on the researches done with the target market and previous records of the company. It goes without saying that if the number of cars actually sold is bigger than the one predicted, it is very good news for the company. The new Land Rover Defender, which will appear on the market only in 2015, may become the best selling model of the Land Rover brand. As it was said by the head of the company, John Edwards, the company expects that the Defender in terms of sales will be able to compete with the Toyota Hilux, global sales of which amounted to 549 000 cars in 2011. Today, sales of the Defender do not hold up to slightly 20 thousand a year, but in the Land Rover they are confident that this SUV has a huge potential.

Even the critics say that selling 500 000 cars a year is overoptimistic. In any case, a SUV is not a mass car, which would suit to the taste of the majority of the people. However, if the numbers will appear to be true, we and fans of Land Rover will be more than happy.
