In addition we have learned an interesting story behind this concept, but about it in the further articles. So the release of Land Rover LRX was a sort of a hint to the public, which would say that the company is concerned with creating compact crossover, which will be able to compete with the Audi Q3 and BMW X1. But, as it turned out, a British concept was not enough, and they not thinking for too long riveted a new version of the crossover, but this time a hybrid one.

LRX in a new arrangement was somewhat different in the design and had all-wheel drive, the idea of which refers to the Lexus RX 400h. The front wheels are driven by internal combustion engines – the two-liter turbo diesel engine, it has a duty, in addition to turn the generator on and rechargeable lithium-ion batteries. Electric motor drives the rear wheels, which the company called with the beautiful acronym ERAD (Electric Rear Axle Drive).

Land Rover LRX is built on a platform of Freelander, but it is smaller in size of his donor. Due to the electric drive train, like most hybrid cars, LRX is moving mainly at low speed. But that’s not all, of what the drive can offer. During braking or coasting ERAD in recovery mode fills charge traction batteries better than any other car.
