Land Rover Agreed to Release Cars with Chery

October 30, 2012 at 02:10

Land Rover Group has signed an agreement with China’s Chery about the joint venture in China. All it means technically is that they are going to produce cars together. However, the Chinese market is not the most suitable one for the SUV cars, we still think that Land Rover knows what it is doing. All in all, the venture most probably will use the great Land Rover expertise in the car manufacturing and not in the design, because the design is not good for the Chinese people and everyone knows it.

Automakers have agreed on a joint production of the vehicles, as well as the organization of the Chinese research and development center, which currently the Chery company lacks and that Land Rover has total control of. As well, there is an assembly plant and engine dealer network included into the development plan.

In addition, the partners will also be able to create a new brand under which China will produce the cars JV. Such a demand is made by the state of the country: a foreign automaker has a right to collect the cars in China only in partnership with a local company, with the SP model must be made under the new brand. British group and the Chinese company will own equal shares in the joint venture. However, to disclose any commercial details of the agreement the parties have refused.
